Scone But Not Forgotten--By Linda Kozar

When the weather is damp, cold and gloomy, there's nothing like a cup of good Irish Breakfast Tea and a warm scone fresh out of the oven, to warm the heart and clear the cobwebs from your head. 

And...a cup of tea and a lovely scone is a wonderful way for a writer to kick-start a productive day. 

I'm on the reward plan. I set little goals and give myself brass rings to keep me going throughout the writing process. Though this technique might not work for everyone, it sure works for me.

Find out what works for you--whatever it might be. The little things, the simple things seem to be the best muses to the creative soul.

Irish Raisin Scones

2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg beaten
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 cup raisins

Mix ingredients and knead on floured board until smooth (1 minute). Roll out and cut with large circle cookie cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Makes eighteen, 2-inch scones.
