I’ve known Cynthia Hickey for at least ten years. She’s a
fellow cozy author, a member of this blog, conference speaker, and she owns Forget Me Not Romances,
a small press that publishes clean and Christian fiction, including four of my
books. (Check it out here: Forget Me Not Romances) Cynthia has sold over a million copies of her works since 2013. That's a lot of books!
Cynthia’s no nonsense, get ‘er done attitude inspires me.
And while she gets more done in a day than I think is humanly possible, she’s
always there to patiently answer any of my questions. If you want a straight
answer, you’ll get it from her. So, it’s my pleasure to introduce her to our
readers who don’t know her, and perhaps give those who do know her some new,
inside information.
Cynthia, can you give us a list of your cozies?
Wow. I have several, starting with my first, the Summer
Meadows Mysteries and my fifth series, Hollywood Murders. My sets include, The Summer Meadows Mysteries, The River Valley Mysteries, The Nosy Neighbor Series,
The Shady Acres Mysteries, and now Hollywood Murders.
What is your favorite thing about cozy mysteries?
It has
to be the quirky characters and how the sleuth sometimes gets drawn into
solving the mystery despite a reluctance to get involved.
You wear many hats. Author. Publisher. Cover designer.
Wife. Mom. Daughter. Artist. How do you schedule your day and guard your time
to make sure you get everything done, but give yourself a break at the same
time?
I’m queen of the list makers. When I get through that list, I oil paint 😊

Tell us a little bit about your art. . .for instance,
when/how you started?
I really didn’t know I could paint. I went with my mother to
her painting group and saw where one of the other ladies had painted the house
she grew up in. I decided to go big and paint my grandmother’s house. Once I
realized I could, I haven’t stopped.
What is your favorite Scripture verse and why?
Philippians 3:14. Can any of us do anything without Jesus?
What is your favorite part of being an author? Your least
favorite part?
Writing! Least favorite…marketing. Bleh
What is the name of your latest book? I believe it’s a
romantic suspense about a Hollywood photographer, and it’s book 2 in a series?
Killer Snapshot. Yes, it’s book two. Killer Pose is book
one. This series revolves around a reluctant actress who actually wants to be a
photo journalist. She films celebrity pets and paparazzi photos in between
films. I’m having fun with it.
