New Anthology "A Cup of Cozy 3" Out Soon

Our family loves to watch Christmas movies. We look forward to the tradition of being together cuddled up by the fire, laughing at the antics of "Home Alone" or shedding a tear or two at the conclusion of "A Christmas Carol." That's how we at Cozy Mystery Magazine feel about our "A Cup of Cozy" holiday anthologies.

This year's theme for "A Cup of Cozy 3" is Destination Christmas: Short Holiday Mysteries and Recipes. Linda Kozar writes a story taking place in Turkey, and my setting is San Francisco. I'll save the other settings for a later post.

As we take time to enter the busiest time of the year, I hope we'll find time to enjoy the journey. Being with friends and family while celebrating fall, Thanksgiving, and Christmas is a special reminder of the abundant blessings God has poured out all year.

Cheers and Happy Holidays!

~Nancy Jill

Nancy Jill Thames was born to write mysteries. From her early days as the neighborhood story-teller to the Amazon Author Watch Bestseller List, she has always had a vivid imagination and loves to solve problems – perfect for plotting whodunits. In 2010, Nancy Jill published her first mystery Murder in Half Moon Bay, introducing her well-loved protagonist Jillian Bradley and clue-sniffing Yorkie “Teddy.”

When she isn’t plotting Jillian’s next perilous adventure, Nancy Jill travels between Texas, California, and Georgia finding new ways to spoil her grandchildren, playing classical favorites on her baby grand, or having afternoon tea with friends.
She lives with her husband in Leander, Texas, where she is a member of Leander Writers’ Guild, American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW CenTex Chapter), and Central Texas Authors.

Watch for her new story "Teddy Saves Christmas" in a holiday anthology with a special bonus issue offer to launch October 15th on all sites. Available for preorder for only $.99 at: https://www.booklaunch.io/joannaslan/happyhomicidesholiday

Oh No! Buttermilk Fudge Catastophe!

Oh Such Sad Looking Fudge
I made Buttermilk Fudge and it did not go as planned. I ended up with buttermilk pebbles. That's right, when I cut into it, it fell apart.
Oh well, at least it's not soup.
So what went wrong?
Remember when I told you last year that you must, YOU MUST, use the right kind of buttermilk? The 2%. Not 1%. Not the powder stuff you add water to. 2%.
No matter how hard it is to find.
Two Percent.
End of argument.
Period.
Well, I broke the rule. The other stuff was easier to find, I was at the store, I took a chance. It did not pay off.
Don't snicker. Oh you snickered, I know you did. If it happened to someone else, I would snicker. Especially as I know better.
So why did I do it?
I'm running way, WAY behind  I still have presents to buy! And it's less than a week to Christmas. Besides, work is crazy and I'm stressing over the Woolly Weegie. Give me a break!
So I took a shortcut and as usual it turned into a longcut.
Moral of the story. Use the 2% buttermilk when making Buttermilk Fudge.
Anyway, I bought the right stuff and I'll just make another batch.
To do it the right way, remember the recipe is available in A Cup of Cozy now free on Amazon.
So what did I do with this batch? Well I got some of it to hold into squares, kind of, and gave it to a friend with kids. Kids don't care how candy looks as long as it has sugar.
As for the pebbles they are in my frezeer for eating later when I feel like it.
Hey, I didn't say it didn't taste good.

Mystery writer C.L. Ragsdale is the author of The Reboot Files a Christian Cozy Mystery Series, and a superhero story called Chasing Lady Midnight. A California native, she loves to "surf" the web to research plot details for her fun, quirky stories. She has a degree in Theatre Arts which greatly influenced her writing style. Working in various fields as a secretary has allowed her to both master her writing skills and acquire valuable technical knowledge which she uses liberally in her plots. Although that is where she got her idea for The Secretary, she is not an evil mastermind. Although some of her former employers might disagree. These days she contents herself with knitting while contemplating her next diabolical plot. Story plot that is.
