White Elephant Party Fun!

For the past two years, I host a special Christmas party at my home for a writer's group I belong to (Writers On The Storm).
The party is a twist on an old favorite--a White Elephant Party.

But I host a White Elephant Book Exchange party.

Now that's a twist!

The book titles are wonderfully awful!

The anticipation in the air is astounding. People sit on the edge of their seats waiting for the next book to be revealed. And of course we all try to out-do one another.

Thought I'd share some of the pictures with you today.

Merry Christmas!, my friends!!!

  1. What a fun party game! Bedtime Stories for Children you Hate is by a writer I am acquainted with. It's received a good deal of critical praise. : )

  2. Traci--NO WAY! That was THE most coveted book, stolen multiple times! We even read excerpts from it. My personal chapter fav, "Fluffie's Not Coming Back." Does she still sell them? I need to tell some friends.

  3. Wonder how the authors feel? I suppose bad authors have to be thick-skinned or leave the field. Looks like ya'll had a lot of fun.

    1. Nancy, we make a rule of only bringing books we find at the Goodwill or dollar store--places like that with books out of print or really really old. But some newer books are so kitschy and fun, they wind up at the party AND people love them! I treasure the ones I get every year and so do most of the other writers too. It's all in fun and not meant to malign the writers.

  6. LOL - What a great idea. I think "What does your Poo tell you" is the winner.

    "Death in Dahlonega"
    "Murder in Marietta"
